Melinda Bowe serves as Counsel for Ferrara Fiorenza and represents school districts in all aspects of education, labor, and employment law.
She has extensive experience representing employers before federal and state agencies, including the New York State Division of Human Rights, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State Department of Labor, and the New York State Education Department’s Commissioner of Education.
She’s served as chief spokesperson in collective bargaining with various unions, including NYSUT, CSEA, SAANYS, SEIU, Teamsters, UPSEU and various municipal police unions.
Melinda advises clients on day-to-day personnel and contract administration matters, with a proactive focus on avoiding claims.
She regularly represents employers in grievance and interest arbitration proceedings, and in Section 75, 3020-a and alternative disciplinary proceedings.
Melinda also regularly represents clients before the New York State Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) in relation to improper practice charges and representation proceedings. She also represents school districts in impartial hearings regarding students with disabilities.
